This Privacy Policy explains how the LineSafe application (“LineSafe”, “the app”) handles information on Android and Windows desktop. It applies to LineSafe version 1.0.0 and later versions unless this policy is updated. In this policy, “we” and “us” refer to the developer of LineSafe.
Summary
- LineSafe is an offline engineering utility. Your projects are stored locally on your device.
- There is no LineSafe account or login.
- LineSafe does not include advertising or analytics.
- LineSafe does not send your project data to us or to any LineSafe server. There is no LineSafe cloud service.
- Files are read only when you choose to import them, and written only where you choose to export them.
- If you purchase LineSafe Full, payment is handled by an external payment provider — LineSafe does not process or store your payment card details. See Payment information.
1. Information LineSafe processes
LineSafe processes the engineering information you enter or import in order to perform its functions. This may include:
- Project details such as project name and project number.
- Survey records such as chainages, Known RL values, BS / IS / FS readings, calculated HI and RL values, Ground Level, Pipe Cover and Pipe Crown values.
- Profile settings and drawing content such as custom profile lines, display and appearance settings, point annotations, obstacles, pipe fittings and profile references, including any text titles or notes you type.
This information is processed on your device only. LineSafe does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, photos or other personal identifiers. If you choose to type personal information into a project field (for example, a person’s name in a project title or note), it is stored in the same way as the rest of that project: locally on your device.
2. Local project data
When you save a project, LineSafe stores it as a file in the app’s local storage on your device:
- Android: projects are saved in LineSafe’s private app storage on the device, which other apps cannot normally access.
- Windows: projects are saved in a
linesafe_profile\projectsfolder inside your user account’s Documents folder.
This project data is not uploaded to us. It remains on your device unless you export or share it yourself, or unless your device’s own backup or file-synchronisation features copy it (see Platform and store services).
3. Imported files
LineSafe can import survey data from Excel workbooks (.xlsx). Import only happens when you start it and pick a file using your device’s standard file picker. LineSafe reads the selected file to load its survey data into a project. It does not scan, browse or read other files on your device.
4. Exported files
LineSafe can create the following files from your project:
- Excel workbooks (
.xlsx) - PDF longitudinal profile documents (
.pdf) - AutoCAD DXF drawings (
.dxf)
Exported files are generated on your device and saved to the location you choose in your device’s standard save dialog. Once a file is exported, it is under your control. If you save it to a cloud-synchronised folder, email it, or share it with others, that transfer is handled by the service or app you choose and is subject to that provider’s own privacy terms.
5. Device permissions
The LineSafe 1.0.0 Android app does not request any runtime permissions. In particular, it does not request access to:
- the internet
- location
- camera or microphone
- contacts, calendar or phone
- broad device storage
Access to files for import and export is provided through the operating system’s file picker and save dialog. You choose the specific file or location each time; LineSafe does not receive general access to your storage.
Like other apps built with the Flutter framework, LineSafe declares that it can list apps able to process selected text (used for the standard text-selection menu) and apps able to provide files (used by the file picker). These declarations do not give LineSafe access to your data in those apps.
6. Analytics and advertising
LineSafe does not include analytics, tracking, crash-reporting or advertising software development kits (SDKs). LineSafe does not show advertisements and does not build a profile of your usage.
7. Accounts
LineSafe has no user account, registration or login system. You can use every feature of the app without providing any identity or contact information.
8. Payment information
LineSafe Full is offered as a one-time purchase. Online checkout is not active on this website yet; this section describes how payment will be handled once it is.
- Payment will be handled by an external payment provider acting as Merchant of Record for the transaction. LineSafe itself does not process or store your payment card details.
- To issue and support your license, LineSafe (or the payment provider on LineSafe’s behalf) may receive basic order and customer information needed for that purpose — for example, your name, email address, order/transaction reference and license details. This information is used only to issue your license and provide support for your purchase.
- The payment provider processes your payment under its own privacy policy and terms, in addition to this one.
9. Network and server processing
LineSafe does not operate a cloud backend or server for the app. All calculations, profile rendering and file generation (Excel, PDF and DXF) take place on your device. The LineSafe Android app does not declare the internet permission, and LineSafe does not transmit your project data over the network. This is separate from the external payment provider’s own checkout process described above, which LineSafe does not control.
11. Platform and store services
Some services outside LineSafe’s control may handle information about your device or your use of apps in general:
- App stores. If you download LineSafe from Google Play or another store, that store may collect information such as installation and purchase history, and may provide developers with aggregated, non-identifying statistics and diagnostic reports, according to its own privacy policy.
- Device backup and synchronisation. Your operating system may back up app data or files as part of its own backup features (for example, Android device backup to your Google account, or Windows folder synchronisation with a cloud service such as OneDrive if your Documents folder is synchronised). These features are controlled by you and your device settings, and are governed by the provider’s privacy terms, not by LineSafe.
- File providers. When you import from or export to a location provided by another app or service (such as a cloud drive), that provider handles the file under its own terms.
12. Data retention
Saved projects remain on your device until you delete them.
- You can delete a project from the LineSafe project list.
- On Android, uninstalling LineSafe removes the app’s locally stored projects from the device.
- On Windows, project files are kept in your Documents folder and may remain after uninstalling the app. You can delete the
linesafe_profilefolder manually if you no longer need them. - Files you have exported are not managed by LineSafe and remain wherever you saved them until you delete them.
We do not retain copies of your projects, because we never receive them. Order/customer information connected with a purchase is retained only as long as needed for license issuance, support and any applicable legal/accounting requirements.
13. Your control over your data
All LineSafe project data is held on devices you control. You can create, edit, export and delete your projects at any time from within the app. Because we do not hold any of your project data, we are not able to access, recover, correct or delete it on your behalf.
If you contact us for support, we will receive the information you choose to include in your message (such as your email address and any attachments). We use it only to respond to your request. Please avoid sending confidential project files unless it is necessary and you are comfortable doing so.
14. Security
Your projects are protected by the security of your device and operating system, such as your device lock screen and Windows user account. We recommend keeping your device updated, using a screen lock, and taking care where you store and share exported files, especially if they contain confidential project information.
15. Children’s privacy
LineSafe is a professional engineering tool and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when LineSafe changes, for example if a future version adds features that handle data differently, or when online checkout becomes active. Any update will be published on this page with a new effective date. Significant changes will be described here before they apply to a released version of the app.
